My theory is proved. They do shop when the sun is shining.
Today was a beautiful sunny warmish (relatively speaking) kind of a day and the shoppers shopped. I was starting to think there was something wrong with my whole concept. I feel much better now.
Went out: 2 pairs of shoes, 2 shirts, 3 pairs of jeans, a scarf.
Came in: Amazing white long and elegant dinner jacket, size 42R. I'm trying to figure out a way to put it on display on my Man but I have to find a suitable outfit to go with it. That will take some time. I'll try to post a picture of it.
My reading corner: Eat, Pray, Love by Elizabeth Gilbert. It's a woman's book, I think. I wonder what men feel when they read it. It's like she's talking to her woman friends. One of the customers actually said he tried to read it because his sister recommended it, but he couldn't do it. It's about a writer who leaves everything behind for a year and travels to Italy to eat, to India to pray and to Bali where she finds love (I guess, haven't got that far yet). I got very jealous during her stay in Italy, my most favorite place to be.
She says, among other things, that when everything around you crumbles, things you can feel with your senses are the only ones you can trust. And that it's our obligation to life to find and experience beauty.

Conclusion - Men don't shop when it's raining
What is it with people? As soon as it's raining, they abandon ship (shop).
Come on, men, be strong, be reasonable. It's only a little bit of water, it won't melt you down.
It's nice and warm and dry in here, there's always good music playing, and I'm waiting to help with all your fashion troubles.
What can be better that that?
Be a Man - Shop in the rain.
Today's wardrobe include: Hugo Boss raincoat, Comme de Garcon sweater, cute red pleather bag of unknown origin, Armani hat.

Update on The Man
Remember that Paul Smith and Thierry Mugler items from a few days ago, in the picture? Well, they're GONE, including the tie!
A new member of Renaissance Man fan club was delighted to find and purchase them. See what I mean? (maybe I should start a fan club?)
So now my beautiful window man is wearing a Ted Baker gorgeous shirt made of cotton so delicate it feels like silk, with cuff links, a brown silk scarf, a Hugo Boss cream cashmere jacket and a London Fog trench coat.
Commando advertising
I've decided I'm going to win my customers one at a time. I give my business card to deserving members of the male population as I go about life.
Last night I had a drink with my dear friend Linda at a nice little place in the neighbourhood. The waiter was dresses with style and seemed like the kind of guy who might like to pop in, so when we paid, I slipped my card in there. As we were leaving I asked him if he saw it and he did, said he kept it and we chatted a little, I told him he looks like a man of distinction. I think he'll come by.
Last week I gave my card to a group of musicians performing at The Gladstone Hotel. One of them came to introduce himself and thanked me, promising to visit. I figure I'm just going to keep doing it and see where that takes me.

New client, new book, same old me
A new one came in today. Extremely good looking, pleasant and soft spoken. Very well dressed. Brought a few high-end things, and said more are to come. He works in TV, always has to look his best so he gets a good size budget for clothes (some people have all the luck) and has many items to get rid of. Planned to come in for some time now but didn't have a chance until today. I hope it's a beginning of a good relationship, business wise.
It was a rather quiet day otherwise, and I made too much progress in my current reading material: Crow Lake by Mary Lawson. I'm trying to pace myself without much success, not to finish it too quickly, it's so good. It brings me to tears every now and then. It also makes me fall in love with Canada (the little of it that I know) all over again, and makes me want to get away from the city. That's not very likely to happen any time soon.

New qoute
The cat could very well be man's best friend but would never stoop to admit it.

And me too
The thing with owning your business is you have no time for shopping. Which is not such a bad thing considering the limited budget that comes along with supporting a new business. However, realizing I do need to put on a good show, I went shopping the other day. I bought a couple of dresses, something I have not done in I can't remember how long. I'm ashamed to admit I went retail instead of my preferred way - resale, of course. Only because my favorite resale shop for women, Second Nature, is keeping the same business hours as myself.

It's raining men
These fine gentlemen are very much to my liking. They love clothes that enhance their appearance, they love saving, and they love browsing in my shop.
"I can spend hours here, there's so much to look through" said one.
" This shop is like heaven to me" said the other.
They came in wearing one thing, and out wearing completely different outfits.
And the third said: "You were right. Every body's commenting how great I look in this coat. It was totally worth it. Thank you."
well, thank you, all of you.
