I've always, since childhood, been fascinated by this force of nature. I used to read a children's encyclopedia entry about it, scrutinize the illustrations time and time again. Having live in a coastal city, and a father who lived by it, made the sea a formidable entity, which infiltrated my dream world. I used to dream tsunamis, experience them on my doorstep, in nightmares until I became an adult. They were very scary dreams, yet beautiful, and sometimes I miss them.
Today I watched a tsunami in action on TV - it is a terrifying, unbelievable thing to witness. It looks like the end of the world.
